Narrow Your Focus

The number one challenge my clients present to me is that they are trying to be too many things for too many people. I see so many photographers that consider themselves portrait photographers, event photographers, fashion photographers, travel photographers, and so on. Narrowing your focus is not only easier on you, but less confusing for your potential clients.

People are looking for you to solve a specific problem. If you have too many different styles of work in your portfolio, they are not going to understand who you truly are, what you really do, nor if you are the best person to hire.

Narrow your focus.

If you are a photographer, you should only have one to three different categories of work, and only your strongest work. Same goes for illustration, maybe even fewer styles.

I know, you don’t want to miss out on a job opportunity. Jobs are income. Dollah bills!

But trust me. Narrowing your focus will allow you to grow faster at what you really love to do. (It will also make marketing a lot easier!)

Need help weeding things out of your portfolio? I’d love to work with you!
