What to do when things are slow…

Newton’s First Law of Motion (or Inertia) states that an object at rest remains at rest, and an object in motion remains in motion. Inertia is terrifying for a lot of my clients, so how do we keep moving when it feels like there’s nothing to move?

Here are some ideas to keep the ball rolling for those of you who are small business owners or side-gig hustlers:

- Reintroduce yourself to your audience. How many of your followers remember who you are, why they followed you or signed up for your newsletter? Even if you have introduced or reintroduced yourself in the recent past, people still love to be reminded of you and what you are passionate about. You might also introduce your audience to a colleague, client, vendor or employee.

- Share some past work. Maybe you don’t have any new clients or new projects to share, but it’s not likely that your audience is going to know or care how old your past work is. No one is going to go private detective on you and dig into your EXIF data for a timestamp.

- Share something personal. Like how you use your own expertise or tools to elevate and expand yourself or your own business.

- Start a conversation. This is always worth repeating; get out of your office, out of your head, take your bestie or a mentor for a walk and talk things out. Staring at your screen is almost never the answer.

- Consider a pivot. Try something new, a new niche, a new meditation, a new camera, a new class, a new company, a new continent?

My career transition workshop, The Pivot Path, replay is now available!
