Is it time for a career shift?
March 17, 2024Just because you may have identified as a (fill in career title here) for many years, just because you have put in so much time, money, blood, sweat, and tears into your career, doesn’t mean you can’t honor that version of you and release it or transform it. Especially if it’s no longer serving you (or your retirement account. π°)
I’ve identified as and released (and sometimes returned to) so many versions of myself:
The Episcopalian β±
The Atheist π³οΈ
The Unwavering Democrat π«
The Headbanger π€πΌ
The Soccer Player β½οΈ
The Gymnast π€Έπ»
The Violist π»
The Fashion Designer π§΅
The Fashion Photographer πΈ
The Music Photographer π€
The Aspiring Biochemical Engineer π©π»βπ¬
The Photo Editor ποΈ
The Agent π©π»βπΌ
Maybe that classifies me as a quitter, or neurodevelopmentally exceptional, or a multipotentialite, or just your average Sagittarius, but I know when my light goes out. As Cory Muscara says, “Purpose is a moment-to-moment listening.”
If you are identifying with an old purpose that is not lighting you up, it’s ok to explore something new.
For those of you not sure how to navigate your next career move, I created The Pivot Path: A Career Transition Workshop.
