This is a coaching case study shared with permission from my client, Lauri. Lauri came to me wanting to improve her mindset around money and scarcity. Since money beliefs and identity surrounding those beliefs can be very deeply rooted, we decided to initiate a 6-session coaching plan, each session lasting 90 minutes.

During our first session, Lauri said that she felt like “I can’t be trusted with money.” I asked her how true that statement felt on a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being absolute truth.) Lauri said it was around a 7.

We did quite a bit of discovery and intake in our first session regarding where her money beliefs came from and followed that with a hypnosis to return to the origin of those beliefs and transform those beliefs into something better. I don’t usually practice hypnosis in a first session with my clients but Lauri has a lot of experience with healing work so we knew she was ready and it would be easy for her to go deep in this session.

After our session Lauri reported, “I felt something massively shift and knew that generations of messed up money beliefs were holding me back. In the days and weeks after our session, I saw the changes; bookings rolling in, my classes filling up, things just flowing at me. Opportunities coming at me from places where I least expected.”

In our second session Lauri said that she was feeling overall lighter and less stressed about work. Things were rolling off her back. In this session, Lauri wanted to gain more confidence in her decision to leave her job and start attracting more clients and money into her wellness business. We did a longer intake and some coaching. I then led Lauri through a tapping practice to seal in feelings of confidence in her ability to leave that job, and trust in her experience and intuition.

By our third session, Lauri had filed a new LLC and was preparing to leave her job to start a new business! She sensed that distractions and ADHD were affecting her confidence so we went into hypnosis to speak to the part of her that was sabotaging her progress. At the end of the hypnosis, Lauri said, “My black hole turned into a Ted Talk stage!” (A black hole was how she was visualizing the distracted part of herself at the beginning of the hypnosis visualization.) She transformed from distracted to confident in this one session!

In our fourth session we discovered that Lauri was still holding on to a lot of guilt from past money and business decisions and I could sense the heavy weight of that. I knew that we needed to move that energy with a somatic practice so we did a lot of tapping and there was a palpable emotional release during this session. We followed that up with a hypnosis where Lauri was able to meet the intellectual, emotional and spiritual parts of herself, they showed her what she needed to do to let go of her guilt.

In our fifth session Lauri was experiencing more stress at her job and overwhelmed by a feeling of being “trapped” there, we wanted to uncover why this was so palpable so we did a hypnosis which took us all the way back to 4 year old Lauri. We reframed a past experience of entrapment with a lot of inner-child nurturing and walked her back to a sense of freedom. After this session I recorded a custom money-mindset tapping for Lauri and challenged her to practice this tapping every morning for the next 30 days.

Our final session was about four weeks later and Lauri had left her job! She was feeling great, an 8 out of 10 on the happiness scale, so we decided to keep this session light and celebratory. We used tapping to seal in all of the happiness and new found freedom into her cells.

I asked Lauri the same question that I did in our first meeting, on a scale of 1-10, how true does this statement feel? “I can’t be trusted with money.” She said it was a 1.5 (down from a 7!)

“Everything feels like it’s in flow. Work feels easy. I’m moving in the right direction and I’ve created healthy expectations for my new business. I haven’t felt like this in a long time.”

I congratulate Lauri for being so brave, open and doing the work to transform her mindset!
